From our ancient past to the frantic now. Who are the women of the Riverina?
Following sold-out seasons in Wagga Wagga and Sydney, the nationally award-winning production Women of the Riverina returns by popular demand to captivate audiences across the region, touring to Albury, Junee and Tumut from May 3–7.
Set within the striking surrounds of the historic Tumut Montreal, Junee Atheneum Theatre and the Pumphouse Albury arts space on the banks of the Milawa/Murray River, this deeply moving production brings the voices of Riverina women vividly to life.
Featuring powerful performances from acclaimed local and Sydney artists — including Aunty Cheryl Penrith, Amelia Harding, Haya Arzidin, Sandra Collins and Katie Simpson — the production weaves together original music, film and storytelling to create an immersive theatrical experience.
The tour includes community storymaking workshops in Albury, Tumut and Junee. Book for the workshops or shows at the links below.

Come on a bold journey through time with Women of the Riverina — where story, movement, music and film collide. From ancient times through wartime resilience to the frantic of today, these are the voices you haven’t heard — until now.
Ten original stories written by local women burst to life — punchy, funny, raw and deeply moving — brought to the stage by outstanding actors and movement artists. Award-winning Australian composer Elizabeth Jigalin’s evocative score weaves through a striking new video backdrop by Noni Carroll, made especially for this production, creating a rich and unforgettable theatrical experience.
Set inside the historic beauty of Tumut Montreal Theatre, Junee Atheneum Theatre and the Albury Pumphouse, each venue becomes part of the storytelling — intimate, atmospheric, alive.
Arrive early, meet the artists, and enjoy a drink before the show — then settle in for a performance that will stay with you long after the lights fade.
The script won the Australian Writers Guild (AWGIE) Award for Community Theatre 2026.
