Lliane Clarke awarded 2022 Carla Zampatti Arts and Culture Medal

The award included a short film about the program, featuring actors Victoria Kennedy, Di Bird, Meg Clarke and Hasitha Adhikariarachchi.

At a ceremony for the NSW Premier’s Harmony Dinner, Voices of Women Artistic Director Lliane Clarke was awarded the Carla Zampatti Arts and Culture Medal from Multicultural NSW.

Lliane was awarded the medal by Carla’s two children, Alex and Bianca, at a dinner in Darling Harbour in March 2022.

Hosted by the Minister for Multiculturalism, in the presence of the Premier of New South Wales, the Premier’s Harmony Dinner is a glittering gala to recognise and celebrate the significant contributions made by multicultural leaders.

The Carla Zampatti Arts and Culture Award recognises the achievements of an individual who has promoted cultural understanding, and artistic endeavours within or between communities of different cultural and/or linguistic backgrounds.

The award recognised Lliane as Artistic Director of Voices of Women, a not-for-profit organisation inspired by storytelling and storytellers, performance, and music. It focuses on stories from First Nations, CALO communities, women living with disability and LGBTQI+ communities. In 2021 Voices of Women received 320 stories from women across Australia as part of its writing competition and engaged broadly with women in regional and multicultural communities.
