Entanglement USA Who We Are

The film is presented by Voices of Women, a not for profit organisation inspired by storytelling and storytellers, performance and music. It has community, openness and collaboration at its heart. We have collaborated with artists across Australia and our Artistic Director has lived and worked extensively in Europe. Over the past three years we have successfully presented performances at Studio MV in Sydney, Inner West Council (Sydney) EDGE Activation Program, and Articulate Project Space, where we made a short film CLEARWAY. We also publish a Voices of Women podcast.

This project is committed to sharing stories and strengthening cross community collaboration, breaking down barriers and presenting diverse stories and tales from all women across Australia and America, in particular First Nations stories, stories from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, from women living with disability and from LGBTQI+ communities.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of country throughout America and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.  We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Elizabeth Jigalin is creating music for Entanglement 2021 including Entanglement USA, as interludes and an infusion around the stories. You’ll often find Elizabeth composing for a range of musicians and instrumental forces (from music for a field of theremins…to string trios…to red objects), performing and composing new soundtracks for silent films on the piano (frequently in collaboration with violinist Jane Aubourg) as part of Australia’s Silent Film Festival and making music outside the usual order of things with the music box project (curious collective she directs). Her work has been performed at Unbound Flute Festival, Extended Play Festival and Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music. She is grateful to have worked with a variety of artists including Soundstream, Ensemble Offspring, Kaldor Public Arts Projects, Sydney Youth Orchestras, stereo/mono, COMA New Music Ensemble and Vox Novus. www.elizabethjigalin.net
