A place on a river. Across the ocean. Where you may or may not cross over. Exposed during drought or in danger during flood and storms. A place with hidden and powerful cultural connections – where people have bargained or fought for access. A place you might eagerly cross to leave someone behind, to find someone new, with great promise or regret. That person on the other side? That could be you. A place of uncertainty and a place of hope. Where the future holds the promise of connection.
A NEW PROGRAM
We are developing a new program that is a place and community-based storymaking project, enabling cross-cultural women’s voices to be heard during workshops and walks on country and public readings, recordings, music-making and performance.
It starts by listening to First Nations and CALD communities on Country through workshops, guided writing and immersion on country, and presents them in experimental readings with actors and musical soundscapes.
From these activities, and drawing on the experience of developing the AWGIE-award winning script ‘Women of the Riverina’, we will develop a new Australian script for theatrical presentation in 2027-2028 written for all audiences.
