Women of the Riverina on Tour

From our ancient past to the frantic now. Who are the women of the Riverina?

Women of the Riverina is a powerful, collaborative work developed and written by Riverina women on Wiradjuri Country through a series of community workshops. It presents 10 stories for actors and movement artists, with evocative new music by award-winning Australian composer Elizabeth Jigalin. Gathered from stories written by women across the region, this powerful work celebrates heartfelt moments, connection, beauty and comedy. Through stories, dance and music, the show takes the audience in a leap from ancient times, through the war years, to the frantic now.

In 2024, Women of the Riverina was performed to sold-out audiences at the KXT Bakehouse in Sydney, and returned home to the Riverina with another sold-out performance at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery. Building on this success, Voices of Women is presenting a new regional tour in 2026, including community engagement workshops that will extend the script to include stories from communities across the region.

We are inviting community co-producers in Albury and the wider Milewa Billa | Murray region to join us on this journey.

Are you interested in being a collaborative, creative co-presenting partner for a performance and/or workshops in your community? We are looking for Expressions of Interest from not-for-profit creative organisations to develop:

  • Community connections and networks to reach and engage local women in workshops
  • A space to host a storymaking workshop and host a small low impact performance (accessible and community-friendly)

Together, we can create something truly special that celebrates the voices of women across the region. The program is scheduled to activate in early 2026.

Interested? Please send a 2-page Expression of Interest with your contact details that outlines:

a) your organisation’s background and current engagement commitments, and

b) what you think you could bring to this project.

Please email your EOI to monologue@optusnet.com.au by 20 September.
