Our Storytelling Workshop on Yuin Nation country in the Shoalhaven Valley at Nowra brought together young women, Elders and mature women to support each other with positivity, confidence and encouragement, while we make and share stories. We told stories of lived experience, and explored our lives as daughters, mothers, aunties, friends, lovers and wives.
We were inspired to work with Artist in Residence, writer Nicole Smede, alongside actor Lucy Heffernan from Shopfront Arts Coop, and Voices of Women Artistic Director Lliane Clarke and First Nations and community liaison Di Bird.
The workshop was full of connection, word play, performance, lots of laughter and a birthday cake for one participant! We thank all the cultural and creative artists for their contributions – in particular Wandiwandandian Wodi Wodi Jerrinja Elder Sharlene Cruikshank.
