PERFORMANCES: SPOKEN WORD
VOICES OF WOMEN events are identified by aspects that are engaging, direct and able to be performed in unusual, intimate or innovative venues and settings.
Stories are performed as rehearsed readings – with minimal staging. The stories are told by one or two actors, and can be monologues, duologues, narratives, fiction or non-fiction.
The stories are always performed by professional actors and storytellers. Writers do not read their own work but allow them to come alive in the hands of professionals.
The events are shaped around audience immersion – in all performances of VOICES OF WOMEN the audience is as close to the actors as possible, engaged in the story and in the art of performance skills. The performances are acoustic where possible, challenging the audience to listen to the spoken word.
